Daily Life in Ancient Mesopotamia

Here is a good book if one wants to get an idea of what life was like back 3-5,000 years ago. Many people claim that the ancient world was not like the modern one and that we have to look at it vastly different than our own time. i disagree with that idea as God gave everyone the same brain and thinking capacity thus they would have the same desires, temptations , struggles and accomplishments.
In fact they had many accomplishments which would astound the modern world and this book tries to record thegeneral idea of them and does so successfully. It is well known that the Babylonians had the Pythagoriam Theory long before Pythagorius discovered it and it is well known that the ancient world mapped the stars long before there was a Dr. Hubble and Dr. Hawking.
This book does well in its recordingof ancient medicine and other aspects of life we take for granted in the modern world and shows us that ancient man was not all that different than we are today. The Bible tells us that 'there is nothing new under the sun' {Ecc.} and this book provides the proof for that verse. many things we thought were original inventions were done long before there was a United States or a Germany. Even the idea of mass production was thought of long before toy companies sought to over-whelm themarket place with their wares.
This book is worth the read and the information it provides helps one get a better understanding of what life was like back in the 3rd or 2nd millenium B.C.
